In 2019, fazed by the apparent unsustainable business models observed then, Melvin found himself contending with issues concerning the economic, environment and social aspects of business operations. He opines that this GPM P5 is the crucial missing link in most sustainability practitioners' toolkit and wishes to advance its adoption through his consulting works.

In his spare time, Melvin also consults and builds sustainable soil-based natural food production systems that revolves around the use of ecological services in a rural setup; in a bid to help achieve food sovereignty and address concerns of food security.
